Apple supplier TSMC posts 3% annual sales increase

Apple supplier Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co has reported a 3 per cent increase in annual revenues.

The company, which is the sole supplier of core processor chips for Apple’s iPhones, said it had revenues of NT$977.45bn in 2017, a 3.1 per cent increase from NT$947.94bn in 2016.

TSMC also posted a stronger finish to the year, with December sales up 15.1 per cent year on year at NT$89.90bn, though that was 3.5 per cent lower than revenues reported for November.

TSMC shares were 2.3 per cent lower in Taipei on Wednesday while the broader Taiwan SE Weighted Index was off 0.8 per cent.
