With battery life and overall battery longevity continuing to dominate the iOS 11 narrative, it seems the rushed release of iOS 11.2.6 wants to solve Apple’s problems itself: a glitch removes the battery indicator.
Yes, affected users are speaking out on social media and chat forums (and in some cases sharing screenshots 1, 2, 3) after finding iOS 11.2.6 removes the battery life icon in the top right corner of the screen. And along with it any easy way of checking the charge level of their iPhone or iPad.
Interestingly some users find the battery indicator can still be seen when opening the settings menu, while others are forced to navigate to Settings > Battery just to see their charge status. I touched on this bug in my iOS 11.2.6 hot take, but with the issue growing as more and more users upgrade, I’d suggest steering clear unless you are specifically upgrading from iOS 11.2.5.
Besides, a missing battery indicator is far from the only problem in iOS 11.2.6 with issues including disconnecting AirPods, the introduction of strange graphical glitches, erratic volume control and yes, predictably, the never ending battery drain problems.
As if Apple needed any more pressure piled upon its big plans for iOS 11.3…
