Woman’s boyfriend taken into custody after she was found dead in Manhattan apartment

Woman’s boyfriend taken into custody after she was found dead in Manhattan apartment:- A 38-year-old woman was discovered dead from head trauma in a disheveled Kips Bay apartment Sunday morning – and her boyfriend was taken into custody, cops said.

Police officers responded to the apartment on 28th St. near First Ave. about 9:30 a.m. and noticed signs of an apparent struggle. They found the woman underneath a large filing cabinet in the bedroom, authorities said.

EMS arrived at the scene and determined that the woman, whose name was not immediately made public, was dead. Cops took her 33-year-old boyfriend into custody.

A longtime resident of the building said the victim has two young children.

“She always tilts her head and smiles. She doesn’t say hi or anything,” said the resident, who declined to give her name. “Just tilts her head and keeps on walking.”

“The police told me she got in with the bad crowd,” she added. “These new people move in and they don’t ask where the post office is or the supermarket is. They ask who’s selling. I saw her out there just last night with the same guys who are always out there.”

The city Medical Examiner will determine the woman’s cause of death. The investigation was ongoing Sunday.
