Tim Duncan of San Antonio Spurs Announces Retirement : On Monday morning, the NBA announced the forwarding of Tim Duncan’s retirement from the San Antonio Spurs. After 19 seasons we can at least say that he retired in an honorable manner, with such a long record of wins, five championships, and a set impression on the NBA that is nearly impossible for anyone else to replicate.
Duncan will surely be missed by fans alike, but when it comes down to it, he is officially considered a legend. Going down as an all-time great. Not only did he become one of three players to win the Wooden Award, ABA Rookie of the Year, NBA MVP, NBA Finals MVP and NBA All Star Game MVP. He will be known on the level of that of Larry Bird, Jordan, Shaq and Hakeem Olajuwon.
While he is majorly accomplished, he was not a player to be shopped around. Sticking to the Spurs for all 19 of his seasons. He earned a place right under Kobe Bryant for most seasons with a single franchise, beaten by only one year. Even if he didn’t leave as number one, he will be number one in the hearts of his fans and those who have played aside him in his many years dedicated to the game.
