Ohio wants to ban abortions before some women know they’re pregnant:- The election of Donald Trump has emboldened Ohio Republicans to pass what would effectively be the most restrictive abortion law in the country. The legislation, now headed to Gov. John Kasich’s desk, would ban abortions once a fetal heartbeat can be detected, which can be as early as six weeks’ gestation. The bill makes an exception if the mother’s life is in danger but not in cases of rape or incest. Under the Supreme Court’s 1973 “Roe v. Wade” ruling establishing a nationwide right to abortion, states can restrict abortions after viability — when a fetus has a reasonable chance of surviving outside the uterus — which ranges from 24 to 28 weeks. That means Ohio’s proposed change would put the state in violation of current constitutional standards. So why push the proposal? The president-elect has signaled his federal and Supreme Court appointments would be more likely to uphold abortion bans.

“Time” magazine on Wednesday named President-elect Donald Trump its “Person of the Year.” The runner-up? Hillary Clinton (who knows full well what second place feels like). The magazine gives the title to the person who has had the greatest influence on events “for better or worse.” So basically everyone can agree on this one. As “Time” said: “For those who believe this is all for the better, Trump’s victory represents a long-overdue rebuke to an entrenched and arrogant governing class; for those who see it as for the worse, the destruction extends to cherished norms of civility and discourse, a politics poisoned by vile streams of racism, sexism, nativism.”

Like, zero problems finding Starbucks
You know when you pass a Starbucks and then four seconds later you pass another Starbucks? Get ready for more of that. The company said Wednesday it plans to open 12,000 new locations within five years, boosting the number of its coffee shops worldwide by almost 50%. The Seattle brewer outlined its growth plans before investors in New York, about a week after it announced that Howard Schultz would step down as CEO in April after building Starbucks into a global brand with 25,000 locations since joining the company more than 30 years ago.

Many people have done some kind of grooming in their nether regions in their lifetimes. But a new study suggests people who regularly trim or remove their pubic hair may be more at risk for sexually transmitted infections. The study, published this week in the journal “Sexually Transmitted Infections,” surveyed 7,580 Americans ages 18-65 about their grooming habits, sexual behaviors and history of STIs. Extreme groomers were almost four times more likely to report having had a sexually transmitted disease than non-groomers. Totally up to you about keeping your appointment for that Brazilian, but a mani-pedi sounds pretty good right now.
