Actress alleges George H.W. Bush groped her in since-deleted Instagram post:- An actress claimed Tuesday that George H.W. Bush groped her during a photo shoot – with Barbara Bush just feet away – and the former president later apologized, calling it an “attempt at humor.”
Heather Lind, 34, a star of “Turn: Washington’s Spies,” said the incident happened four years ago when Bush, now 93, and his wife met the cast.
“When I got the chance to meet George H. W. Bush four years ago to promote a historical television show I was working on, he sexually assaulted me while I was posing for a similar photo. He didn’t shake my hand. He touched me from behind from his wheelchair with his wife Barbara Bush by his side. He told me a dirty joke,” Lind wrote in the post, which was later deleted.
“And then, all the while being photographed, touched me again. Barbara rolled her eyes as if to say `’not again,’ ” Lind continued. “His security guard told me I shouldn’t have stood next to him for the photo.”
A rep for the former president admitted Bush, now 93, might have erred.
“President Bush would never — under any circumstance — intentionally cause anyone distress, and he most sincerely apologizes if his attempt at humor offended Ms. Lind,” Bush’s spokesman said.
“Turn” – which ran for four seasons on AMC – brought to light the network of spies employed by Gen. George Washington against the British.
Lind played Anna Strong, who was active in the Culper Ring of spies on Long Island.
