2 dead, at least 5 wounded in Sunday shootings citywide:- Two men are dead and at least five others were taken to hospitals after shootings Sunday across the city.
About 7:10 p.m., a 38-year-old man was shot in the 1700 block of East 79th Street in the city’s South Shore neighborhood.
He was taken in critical condition to Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn with gunshot wounds to the chest, back and neck, police said. He later died there, police said.
Another fatal attack happened about 4:30 p.m. in the 100 block of North Hermitage Avenue in the city’s West Town neighborhood. Police found the victim, a 36-year-old man, with a gunshot wound to the head, police said. He was pronounced dead a short time later.
Further details about the fatal attacks were not immediately released.
In other shootings:
A 41-year-old man was walking in the 6300 block of South Mozart Street in the Marquette Park neighborhood when he was shot about 7:45 p.m. He was taken to Holy Cross Hospital in good condition, police said.
A 38-year-old man was shot when he was in a car on the Skyway near 66th Street about 6:15 p.m. Someone in another vehicle fired shots, hitting him in the cheek, neck and arm, police said. He was taken in serious condition to Stroger Hospital, police said.
Traffic was snarled for hours as police investigated. The southbound ramp from the Dan Ryan Expressway to the Skyway near 66th Street was reopened about 9:30 p.m.
A 20-year-old man was shot about 5:55 p.m. in the 4300 block of South Richmond Street in the Brighton Park neighborhood. He and his girlfriend were sitting in his car when they heard multiple shots and he was wounded in the neck. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition had stabilized, police said.
A 39-year-old man was shot in the 8400 block of South Hamilton Avenue around 5:50 p.m., police said. He was shot in the right leg and taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Center in Evergreen Park in serious condition.
A 24-year-old man was shot in the 6500 block of South Cicero Avenue about 4:15 p.m., police said. The 24-year-old was shot in the left thigh by someone in a red Cadillac, police said. The victim was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where his condition had stabilized.
Police reported no arrests.
