Duchess Kate stuns in Marchesa and borrowed necklace from the queen at state banquet:- As we suspected, Duchess Kate did not disappoint in the fashion department at the state banquet at Buckingham Palace on Wednesday evening. The glamorous banquet is a fitting ending to the first day of King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia’s three-day Spanish State Visit to the U.K. Not to mention that the duchess finally had the chance to meet the woman who has been deemed the “Kate Middleton of Spain.”
Kate arrived at the affair in a pale pink Marchesa gown, the Cambridge Lover’s Knot Tiara (among the six times she’s worn a tiara, this is her third time flaunting this one) and a ruby and diamond necklace, borrowed from Queen Elizabeth II.
The dress seems similar to this two-piece Marchesa design, though the 35-year-old’s is pale pink — rather than hot pink — and clearly longer (see the length in the background of the photos below). With that said, the dress is not overly conservative, with People even calling it “Kate’s most daring neckline ever.”
While her exact dress doesn’t seem to be for sale, we think we found a really, really similar one. You’re welcome.
The royal mom wore her hair in an updo, which seems curious, considering she recently chopped several inches of her hair off. However, we’re guessing she may have gotten some help from extensions this time around. A girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do, right?
The Duchess of Cambridge stepped out with Prince William and Prince Harry, who attended for the first time, to join Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip for the evening. And while Prince Harry takes on more duties, this state visit is expected to be 96-year-old Prince Philip’s last, as he’s retiring in the fall.
