Dallas Shooting Celebrities React on Twitter:-While the actions of what happened at Dallas have shook the nation, many celebrities are having waves of emotion fill them. Celebrities like John Legend, Adam Lambert, and Olivia Wilde have taken to sharing their thoughts about the situation on twitter.
While they are offering support and their condolences to the Dallas police, they are also reminding people that even though they are mourning those that have lost their lives, they are still in support of the Black Lives Matter because even though these police lost their lives for the wrong reason this should not represent the movement as a whole.
In these last few days, people on the internet have dictated that the BLM movement is not in support of protecting African-American lives from the police, but a group of anti-police individuals. Social media has become a battle ground for the opinionated, those in support of the police, those who believe in justice for everyone, and those who think that while this has happened we shouldn’t stir our thoughts as to what led up to this in the first place. These people began attacking celebrities themselves, Prince Jackson was even ‘dragged’ for publishing a tweet that gave his support for the All Lives Matter movement.
Kim Kardashian even came out with her support, stating she would refuse to fear in the future for her son’s life just because of the color of his skin.
These statements and many more that are to come are a awakening to many people, as we sit back and be blinded by what the media chooses to force feed us, we don’t see the truth. Not speaking out only makes it worse, turning a blind eye only allows another body to be lowered into the ground.
How many people had to parish before someone finally spoke up about the injustice in our own communities? Does it not bother us that we ridicule and belittle a movement that is trying to raise for action to be done after thousands of African American men and women are murdered on the streets by the same people who are supposed to protect us?
It’s saddening that it took the death of 5 police officers for some people to finally care.
