Snow Expected to Taper Off Monday Morning, Multiple Metro Districts Cancel School
After a weekend-long snow event, KSTP Meteorologist Jonathan Yuhas said the snow is expected to exit the area by early Monday morning.
Yuhas said the snow will turn to flurries and slowly taper off. He added that a messy melt is expected Monday.
While the snow may be out of the state by Monday, many will still be impacted.
Multiple schools across the state announced two-hour delays or cancellations for Monday. In the metro, Minneapolis Public Schools, St. Paul Public Schools and Anoka-Hennepin Schools canceled classes.

Yuhas said the snow may impact the Monday morning commute, but most major highways should be clear.

As of 10 p.m. Sunday, a majority of the roads in the metro area were partially covered with snow, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Because of the snow, a large volume of crashes and spinouts were reported statewide.
State Patrol reported a total of 630 crashes as of 8:45 p.m. Sunday. There was also a total of 1,182 vehicle spinouts, or vehicles that went off the road.
A number of cities in the area remain under a snow emergency as plows work to clear streets. Those cities include Minneapolis, St. Paul, Bloomington, Coon Rapids, Eden Prairie, Golden Valley, Richfield and West St. Paul.

After this most recent snowstorm, this April has been the snowiest on record. The snow has accumulated to 22.5 inches of snow this month, and there is still more snow in the forecast. In 1983, it snowed 21.8 inches. Yuhas also added it is the third coldest April on record as well.
As of Sunday night, Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport received 10.2 inches of snow, Fridley received 20 inches of snow and Maple Grove received 22 inches of snow.
