Terrell Owens selects presenter for Hall of Fame induction
It would seem that Terrell Owens is finally embracing his election to the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
The Hall revealed Wednesday that T.O. has selected the wide receiver coach from his days with the 49ers, George Stewart, to be his presenter during August’s enshrinement ceremony.
“He knew what to get out of me. He became a father figure to me,” Owens said of Stewart via the Hall’s Twitter account.
Owens also visited Canton earlier this week to participate in obligations leading up to his induction.
It represents a significant turn of events given Owens was not in Minneapolis when he was elected to the Hall during Super Bowl LII weekend. He did not appear on “NFL Honors” when the 2018 class was revealed, nor was he at the game when the new inductees were recognized.
Owens – and many of his peers – previously expressed anger at the Hall’s selection committee, which did not vote him in during his first or second year of eligibility, apparently due to issues with his conduct as a teammate.
A five-time all-pro, Owens’ 15,934 career receiving yards are second only to Jerry Rice, while his 153 TD catches rank third behind Rice and fellow 2018 enshrinee Randy Moss.
