Donald Trump SLAMS peace talks warns war with North Korea ‘may be inevitable’
DONALD Trump fears war may be inevitable with North Korea as he warned that peaceful efforts are unlikely to work and hinted he could be willing to take military actions to combat the threat imposed by Kim Jong-un.
The Republican firebrand declared that he is unsure whether “sitting down will solve the problem” with Kim Jong-un.
He said: “I’d sit down, but I’m not sure that sitting down will solve the problem.
“I’m not sure that talks will lead to anything meaningful.
“They’ve talked for 25 years and they’ve taken advantage of our presidents, of our previous presidents.”
The President added that he hoped tensions with Kim Jong-un could be resolved “in a peaceful way, but it’s very possible that it can’t”.
When questioned on whether the US is considering a pre-emptive attack on the isolationist state, the President refused to comment and explained he did not want to reveal his hand.
He added: “We’re playing a very, very hard game of poker and you don’t want to reveal your hand.”
Mr Trump also skewered his predecessors Bill Clinton, George W Bush and Barack Obama for failing to deal with the hermit kingdom during their time in office.
He stated: “I guess they all realised they were going to have to leave it to a president that scored the highest on tests.”
The Republican also issued the chilling warning that Kim Jong-un is getting “closer every day” to developing weaponry capable of striking the US mainland.
He went on: “They’re not there yet, but they’re close. And they get closer every day.”
To add to the already icy relations with Vladimir Putin, Russia was also blamed for helping North Korea evade international sanctions by supplying despot leader Kim Jong-un with supplies for its expanding military arsenal.
Mr Trump claimed: “Russia is not helping us at all with North Korea.
“What China is helping us with, Russia is denting.
“In other words, Russia is making up for some of what China is doing.”
The Republican firebrand went on to say that Mr Putin “could do a lot” with regards to solving the North Korean issue as he detailed that Russia is cancelling out the positive influence of China.
He declared: “But unfortunately we don’t have much of a relationship with Russia, and in some cases it’s probable that what China takes back, Russia gives.
“So the net result is not as good as it could be.”
