North Korea boast NEW nuclear missile can officially reach all US mainland

NORTH Korea has announced a “successful test” of a Hwasong-15 missile which proves the despot regime is capable of hitting mainland US, state media has announced.

North Korea TV has announced the successful launch of a Hwasong-15 missile, the rocket the US has been fearing.

The missile is claimed to be capable of hitting the continental US and potentially has nuclear capability.

The claim has not been independently verified, but experts had been expecting North Korea to demonstrate that it has all of the US in range.

The North Korean newsreader said the missile has reached “the stage of completion” and it is the most powerful ballistic rocket North Korea has ever developed

North Korea claims the missile was armed with a “super-large warhead” capable of “striking a hole” and hitting “all the US mainland”.

The Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) said in a statement: “The ICBM Hwasong-15 type weaponry system is an intercontinental ballistic rocket tipped with a super-large heavy warhead which is capable of striking the whole mainland of the US.

“This system has much greater advantages in its tactical and technological specifications and technical characteristics than Hwasong-14 whose test-fire was conducted in July last, and it is the most powerful ICBM which meets the goal of the completion of the rocket weaponry system development set by the DPRK.

“After making a 53-minute flight along its present orbit, the rocket accurately landed in the target waters set in the open sea in the East Sea of Korea.

“The test-fire was conducted in the highest angle launch system and it had no adverse effect on the security of neighbouring countries.

“The great success in the test-fire of ICBM Hawsong-15 is a priceless victory won by the great and heroic people of the DPRK who have upheld the WPK’s line on the simultaneous development of the two fronts with loyalty without the slightest vacillation despite vicious challenges by the US imperialists and their followers and manifold difficulties.”

It goes on to say in a “solemn declaration” that the ICBM was to defend the “sovereignty and territorial integrity” of the country from the “US imperialists”.

It added: “As a responsible nuclear power and a peace-loving state, the DPRK will make every possible effort to serve the noble purpose of defending peace and stability of the world.”

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un declared “with pride that now we have finally realised the great historic cause of completing the state nuclear force”.

According to Yonhap News, South Korea’s spy agency said it does not rule out the possibility of North Korea conducting yet another nuclear test – but it has a chequered history with predictions.

Global arms experts say North Korea’s latest test was unlikely to be able to deliver a nuclear bomb as it appeared the launch carried a lighter mock warhead.

But, many say such a reality is one step closer and the test has advanced North Korea’s weapons programme.

Head of the East Asia Nonproliferation Program at the Middlebury Institute of Strategic Studies Jeffrey Lewis said: “We don’t have to like it, but we’re going to have to learn to live with North Korea’s ability to target the United States with nuclear weapons.”

The US-based Union of Concerned Scientists said: “If these numbers are correct, then if flown on a standard trajectory rather than this lofted trajectory, this missile would have a range of more than 13,000 km (8,100 miles).
