Ohio high school band director accused of rape
A high school band director has been arrested after being accused of rape, reports say.
Oyun Benjamin Hyun, 27, posted a $75,000 bond following his arraignment Tuesday in Mansfield Municipal Court on a first-degree felony charge of rape, the Mansfield News Journal reports.
Hyun is band director at Shelby High School, but both investigators and school officials say the alleged rape does not involve a student or a resident in the city of Shelby, 10tv.com reports.
“The Ontario Police Department wants to stress that this case has no affiliation with Shelby City Schools or any of its students or any other employee,” a news release from the police department says. “The Shelby Police Department with the assistance of the district’s school resource officer did assist the Ontario Police Department in locating Hyun and they were of great assistance.”
Police became aware of the rape accusation earlier this month, according to the Richland Source.
Authorities were called to OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital after being told there was a “possible suicidal male involved in a possible rape,” the Source reports.
Hyun has been placed on paid suspension by the school district as the investigation continues, reports say.
