5 shot on West, Northwest sides:- Five people were injured in city shootings on Monday — three of them in the South Austin neighborhood.
In the city’s most recent shooting, a 19-year-old man was critically injured in a shooting around 8:50 p.m. in the 200 block of North Mason Avenue in the South Austin neighborhood on the West Side, police said.
The man was rushed to Mount Sinai Hospital in critical condition after he was shot in the head.
Just a few blocks away in the same neighborhood, another 19-year-old man was shot and injured earlier Monday.
Around 3:05 p.m., the man was shot in the 5900 block of West Madison Street, police said.
The man was shot in the buttocks and was rushed to Stroger Hospital where he was listed in good condition, according to police.
Just five minutes earlier around 3 p.m., a woman, 20, also was shot in South Austin in the 700 block of North Pine Avenue, officers said.
The woman was shot in the upper body when an occupant of a dark blue SUV fired at her, police said. She was also taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, police said.
The latter two shootings did not appear to be related, police said.
In other shootings:
- About 7:15 p.m., a man was shot in the Portage Park neighborhood, police said. Officers were called to the 5000 block of West Roscoe Street on the Northwest Side and found a man, 25, with gunshot wounds to the side, leg and arm, according to police. The man was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital where his condition was stabilized, officials said.
- A 28-year-old man was in good condition after he was shot in the West Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side around 6 p.m., authorities said. The man was shot in the left arm in the 4700 block of West Lake Street. He was taken to a Stroger Hospital in good condition.
Detectives are investigating all five cases and no arrests have been made, according to police.
