Ian McShane to play Hellboy’s father
Ian McShane to play Hellboy’s father:- Actor Ian McShane has been cast to portray David Harbour’s father in the Hellboy movie reboot.
Harbour will star as the titular character in Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen, and McShane will play his adoptive father Professor Trevor Broom. John Hurt previously portrayed the character in the original two films in 2004 and 2008.
Neil Marshall is set to direct the movie, which will centER on Hellboy going up against a medieval sorceress. Production is slated to begin filming in September (17) in the U.K. and Bulgaria, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The new film will be the third in the franchise, which previously starred Ron Perlman as Hellboy, with Guillermo del Toro serving as filmmaker. The pair had previously tried to bring a third movie to fruition, but earlier this year (17) del Toro revealed their project had stalled and would no longer be moving forward.
“Hellboy 3 Sorry to report: Spoke w (with) all parties. Must report that 100% the sequel will not happen,” he wrote on Twitter in February (17). “And that is to be the final thing about it.”
Perlman followed up with his own message, joking, “Superhero seeks employment. Likes, pizza, cats, and the Marx bros.”
