Officer shoots, kills suspect in Everett

Officer shoots, kills suspect in Everett:- A Lynnwood police officer shot and killed a domestic violence suspect in Everett late Saturday night.

The Snohomish County Sheriff’s Office says Lynnwood Police Officers were called to a domestic violence case in Lynnwood around 6 p.m. The victim says that the suspect, who lives in Everett, threatened to kill her, then fled.

Police tracked the suspect to a residence on Friday Ave in Everett, where the suspect fled.

The suspect, a 44-year-old man, was found at a home in the 3900 block of Grand Ave around 11:30 p.m. There was a struggle while attempting to get the man in custody, police said. Witnesses reported seeing the suspect attempt to grab the officer’s weapon.

The officer, a four-year veteran of the Lynnwood police department fired at the suspect, who died on scene. The suspect had a felony Department of Corrections escape warrant.

The shooting is under investigation by the Snohomish County Multi-Agency Response Team (SMART). The officer is on paid administrative leave, per standard policy, while the investigation is underway.

Identification of the suspect will be determined by the Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s office.
