Melanie Griffith Wishes Ex-Husband Antonio Banderas Happy Birthday: Melanie Griffith and Antonio Banderas’ marriage might be over, but that doesn’t mean they don’t still love each other.
The former couple, who ended their nearly two-decade-long marriage in December, exchanged sweet birthday messages this week. Griffith and Banderas’ birthdays are just one day apart, Aug. 9 and Aug. 10 respectively, and both took to social media to celebrate each other.
“Happy Birthday to my ruggedly handsome ex husband,” Griffith, 59, captioned on Instagram, alongside a red carpet picture of her and her ex. “Will always love you,” she added.
Just yesterday, Banderas shared his birthday message via Twitter, alongside a picture of himself, Griffith and their daughter, Stella.
“Happy birthday Melanie,” the actor wrote in Spanish. “A loving hug from Marbella.”
Recently, Griffith spoke with PEOPLE about her life after divorce. “I’m having a very introspective time right now,” she said while attending the Crown Media party for the Television Critics Association in Beverly Hills. “It’s an interesting time.”
Not that that’s a bad thing. “It’s just sort of nice,” she added. “My kids are all great. They’re beautiful people. I’m single, and lonely, and bored, and confused – but then at the same time, totally curious. It’s almost like I have to throw myself out of the nest.”
