At first, to begin with, your law studies is quite a tough and tiring task. When you finish with it and get graduated then you need to fulfill certain criteria go for practicing in the States. That criteria require your professional law degree from a certified college or university and a bar exam which you need to crack before you are designated as a professional lawyer. All of this which we just wrote seems quite easy in a sentence but trust u sit is a hell lot of hard work and intelligence. And for the people who have completed their degree from outside the country, for them the rules are different. Some people might think that it is next to impossible to practice law in United Sates of America when you hold a foreign degree and some might think that this scenario does not even exist. But it does, it might be a little difficult depending on your province or state where you are living but it definitely is not impossible. We bring you certain lesser known facts which can help you out finding a way to practice Law in United Sates
 
How to Practice Law in the United States with a Foreign Law Degree:
 
Each state in the USA has a different requirement which you need to fulfill for practicing law over there if you hold a foreign degree. 
 
1. New York: it is the place where everybody wants to go and achieve what they aim for. For practicing law with your foreign degree in New York you need to fulfill certain requirements. There is this board of examiners which is known as New York Boards of Law Examiners who conduct the bar exam have set some specific criteria for foreign law degree holders. Either your foreign education gets transferred to the US system or it does not get transferred. There is not in between. If the lawyer has completed his education incomplete 3 years and is focused on the common law then his degree gets transferred and he is allowed to take the bar exam. In all the other cases the candidates will have to complete the LLM before appearing for the exam. 
 
2. California: In case you are thinking to practice law in California with your foreign degree then the rules followed there are relatively liberal than they were in New York. If you meet the requirements you are allowed to sit for the exam. Generally, people are allowed to sit for the exam without fulfilling any other additional requirements. 
 
3. Other States: As it is clear by now that every province has its own rules and regulations. Now if we talk about other 50 states, the District of Columbia and the five territories. Here are thirty-four jurisdictions where foreign-trained lawyers have the opportunity to gain admission to the bar. Only Vermont is the state that acknowledges the foreign law degrees and allows people to undertake an apprenticeship program in place of appearing for the Vermont bar exam.
