OVERVIEW

Study Area: Piano I aim to help you achieve your own personal goals, whether you want to play classical, pop, or any other style. I have students who play just for fun, and students who study music seriously with long term goals. Taking lessons in piano (or any other instrument) can be very enriching, but it is important to find a qualified teacher! If someone (unintentionally) teaches bad technique (simply because they do not know better) it can set you back, leave gaps in your understanding of important musical concepts, and in some cases even cause serious physical strain or injury. I hold a master's degree in piano from the University of Cincinnati's College-Conservatory of Music, and a bachelor's degree in piano from the Eastman School of Music. I have maintained a private studio of 30-40 students, with ages ranging from 5-65. I taught class piano at the Eastman School of Music, and also at the University of Rochester. I have also taught at the Community Music School at the Chautauqua Institution in New York. **The first lesson is FREE so you have nothing to lose! You can try it out and decide if it seems like something you will enjoy.** Prices vary depending on whether you want the lessons in your home or in mine. I teach 30 minute, 45 minute, and 1 hour lessons. For more information on pricing, please send an email. I also tutor in music theory. If you are a singer-songwriter that wants a more solid foundation in music theory, I can help you achieve your goals. I can also teach you proper music notation, so you can prepare professional-quality scores of your own original music compositions. I can also help you study for college entrance exams in music. I have also performed in numerous competitions, including the World Piano Competition. If you hope to participate in piano competitions, I can prepare you! My performance experience includes performances in New York City's Carnegie Hall; the United Nations; The U.S. Department of Energy in Washington, D.C.; and various solo concerts throughout Utah, Arizona, and New Mexico. I have performed with the Cincinnati Pops, Blue-Ash-Montgomery Symphony Orchestra, The Hamilton-Fairfield Symphony Orchestra, and the Symphony of the Canyons.
