Jennifer Beals was born on 19th December in the year 1963 in Chicago Illinois. Her mother was an elementary school teacher and her named was Jeanne and her dad Alfred Beals owned grocery stores. Her mother was of Irish-American descent and Alfred was black. Jennifer Beals also has two siblings (brothers) namely Bobby and Gregory. When she was just 10 years of age a very unfortunate thing happened in her life, her father passed away. Her mother got married to Edward Cohen in the year 1981. Beals has said her biracial heritage had some effect on her, as Jennifer Beals "always lived sort of on the outside", with an idea "of being the other in society". Jennifer Beals started working at the age of 13 at an ice cream store; she convinced her boss that she was 16 because she was very tall. However, Jennifer Beals is 5feet and 8 inches now. Jennifer Beals started with films in the year 1980 with her minor role on-screen appearance in the film My Bodyguard. Then Jennifer Beals was recognized for her role in Flashdance. It did so well at the box office that this movie was the third highest grossing film of that year in the USA. It was a story of 18-year-old Alex, a welder by day and exotic dancer by night, whose dream is to be accepted someday at an illustrious school of dance. When she was studying at Yale, Jennifer Beals was cast for this role in the film. She was nominated for her performance in Golden Globe Award and also won an Academy Award for the best song. After she was done filming and shooting for this movie she decided to devote all her time to her studies. For that while, she just did one film in which she played the role of a bride in a gothic horror movie named The Bride of Frankenstein. Jennifer Beals shot for this movie during her summer break. We also saw her appearing on Cinderella episode of Faerie Tale Theatre. Joel Schumacher had asked her to be a part of St. Elmo’s fire but she turned it down to stay at Yale and be more involved with her studies. After she completed her studied in the year 1987, Jennifer Beals made a comeback to her acting career in the industry and was cast opposite Craig Sheffer in the film named Split DecisionsJennifer Beals also played a great character of a lusty woman and a thirsty vampire in the 1989’s epic Vampire’s Kiss starring opposite Nicholas Cage. Beals was considered for the role of Catwoman in Tim Burton's 1992 film Batman Returns but Jennifer Beals declined the role. 




In 1995 we saw her and Denzel Washington together in a movie named Devil in a blue dress. It was an amazing period film which was based on a Walter Mosley novel featuring L.A. private detective, Easy Rawlins. The same year Jennifer Beals made her appearance in a four story anthology named Four Rooms co-starring Tim Roth. One of those was directed by her then-husband Alexandre Rockwell. He also had directed one more film casting her in it and that was an independent film named In the Soup, that movie was a grand prize winner at the Sundance Film Festival. In 2003 we saw her playing one of the sequestered jury members in the film adaptation of Runaway JuryJennifer Beals also played a leading role in the film named Grudge 2 in 2006. In 2010, Beals reunited with Denzel Washington in the post-apocalyptic action drama The Book of Eli, where Jennifer Beals played a blind woman who is the mother of Mila Kunis' character and a consort of a local despot played by Gary Oldman. In the movie Full Out she had been portraying a character of UCLA Bruins gymnastics head coach. And then recently this year in 2017 we saw her playing Samantha Kingston’s mother in the movie Before I Fall.

1. In 1992- She appeared in 200 Malibu Road playing an attorney Perry Quinn

2. In 2004- she was seen in a cameo in the series Frasier

3. In 2007- she was playing Sarah in the hit TV series named My Name is Sarah. In that show, she played a sober woman who joins Alcoholics 

Anonymous to conduct research for her book but finds herself falling in love with a recovering alcoholic and - as a result - having to deal with her original deception in joining the group.

4. She was also starred in one of the classic hit series of Showtime network named The L Word. She played the role of Bette Potter who is an Ivy-League educated Lesbian. At her request, the character of Bette was made biracial which allowed Pam Grier's Kit Porter character to become Bette's half-sister. For her performance in that show, she said that "I was much more obsessed with the work that Bette did because she was so obsessed with the work that she did." The series lasted for six great seasons and ended in 2009. 

5. She had also made her appearance as Cal Lightman's ex-wife, Zoe Landau which was another biracial character starring opposite Tim Roth in Lie to Me. 

6. She was also the main female lead actress of the FOX V show The Chicago Code. In this show, her character Teresa Colvin is Chicago's first female police superintendent. The series was canceled after its first season. 

7. She had also turned down an offer to appear on the show Dancing with the Stars.

8. In 2013- she was starred on ABC network’ show in the pilot of the show name Westside.

9. In 2014- She has starred in the show The Proof as Dr. Kathryn Russo.

Jennifer Beals was married to Alexandre Rockwell in 1986, the marriage lasted for 12 long years and eventually, they filed a divorce and got separated in 1998. In 1998 Jennifer Beals was married to a Canadian Entrepreneur named Ken Dixon. In the year 2005, on October 18th they gave birth to their beautiful daughter. Beals has described herself as a "spiritual person". Jennifer Beals always had shown her interest in the Bible and Catholicism, as well as Judaism, which she once considered conversion to, and is a practicing Buddhist. She has been supporting the gay rights and has been a vocal advocate for them as well. Jennifer Beals also said, "I think after playing Bette Porter on The L Word for six years I felt like an honorary member of the community." Jennifer Beals was a celeb Grand Marshall in 2006 San Francisco Pride Parade. In October 2012, she received the Human Rights Campaign's Ally for Equality Award, in recognition of her outstanding support for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.
