Unfortunately, however, we now have an update from the source of that leak which reveals the headline feature has been dropped\u2026<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">Speaking on Twitter, the ever-mysterious Ice Universe stated it is now \u201calmost certain\u201d the Galaxy Note 9 will not have a fingerprint reader integrated into the display. Instead, it will just be a regular reader on the back of the phone like last year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">For those in denial, Ice Universe has a strong Samsung track record. He\/she previously broke the Galaxy Note 8 design, attained the first real-world photos of the Galaxy S8 and nailed every single detail of the Galaxy S9.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">Ice Universe didn\u2019t specify what caused Samsung to ditch the in-display reader so late in development, but given performance issues scuppered its inclusion on the Galaxy Note 8 and Galaxy S9 it wouldn\u2019t be a wild guess to assume the same thing has happened again.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">Of course, the argument that will be thrown at Samsung is why can\u2019t it get this technology right when Vivo, a much smaller manufacturer, already has a smartphone with it (the X20 Plus UD) on sale?
