Report: John McCain Tells Son-In-Law To ‘Take Care Of Meghan’<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

An emotional Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) hugged son-in-law Ben Domenech and told him to \u201ctake care\u201d of his daughter Meghan, The Arizona Republic reported.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cJohn hugged me tonight,\u201d conservative writer Domenech said Saturday night in a tweet that he later deleted, according to the newspaper. \u201cHe asked me to take care of Meghan. I said I would.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Domenech, founder and publisher of The Federalist, also lashed out in the tweet, apparently at critics of the senator, who was diagnosed with brain cancer last July. \u201cF\u2015k you soulless crazies,\u201d Domenech wrote. \u201cF\u2015k you all the way to hell.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The six-term senator was released earlier this month from the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix following surgery for an intestinal infection.<\/span><\/p>\n

He is currently at his home near Sedona, his wife, Cindy, said in a tweet last Monday.<\/span><\/p>\n

Meghan McCain, co-host of ABC\u2019s \u201cThe View,\u201d said in a tweet earlier this month that she was traveling home to see her parents. She said on \u201cThe View\u201d that she planned to fly back and forth from New York for a time. \u201cSo just know if I\u2019m not here, I\u2019m hanging out with my dad and my mom,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n

She thanked people for their \u201ckind words and prayers\u201d for her dad, adding: \u201cIt really means so much for my family.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

She recently posted a photo on Instagram, apparently from her wedding, with her dad. \u201cThank you for teaching me how to be a Viking warrior \u2014 even when some thought it more appropriate for boys,\u201d she wrote.<\/span><\/p>\n

The maverick senator, who ran on the GOP ticket for president against Barack Obama in 2008, has been one of the few Republicans to speak out against Donald Trump. During his campaign, Trump took shots at McCain for being captured in North Vietnam and held as a prisoner of war for five years. \u201cHe\u2019s not a war hero,\u201d said Trump. \u201cHe was a war hero because he was captured. I like people who weren\u2019t captured.\u201d Trump received four student deferments from military service between 1964 and 1968.<\/span><\/p>\n

Last October, McCain slammed Trump policies and his supporters over the Mexican border wall and \u201ccrackpot conspiracy theories.\u201d It\u2019s \u201ctime to wake up,\u201d McCain said in a speech at the Naval Academy. \u201cI believe in America. We\u2019re capable of better. We\u2019re hopeful, compassionate people.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He has said that attacking freedom of the press is \u201chow dictators get started,\u201d and lashed Trump in March for congratulating Vladimir Putin for winning a \u201csham election.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Last month, McCain said Trump\u2019s very public announcement that he was pulling U.S. troops out of Syria \u201cemboldened\u201d president Bashar Assad just days before Assad was accused of launching a chemical attack on his people.<\/span><\/p>\n

McCain voted against his party\u2019s bill to repeal and replace Obamacare last summer.<\/span><\/p>\n
