{"id":62568,"date":"2018-04-09T07:43:25","date_gmt":"2018-04-09T07:43:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biphoo.com\/bipnews\/?p=62568"},"modified":"2018-04-09T07:43:25","modified_gmt":"2018-04-09T07:43:25","slug":"russian-woman-embalmed-alive-in-deadly-hospital-mistake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biphoo.com\/bipnews\/world-news\/russian-woman-embalmed-alive-in-deadly-hospital-mistake.html","title":{"rendered":"Russian woman embalmed alive in deadly hospital mistake"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: justify\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 18pt;color: #000000\">Russian woman embalmed alive in deadly hospital mistake<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">A Russian woman was embalmed alive when doctors unwittingly put her on a formaldehyde-based drip instead of a saline during a surgery, according to a report Sunday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">Ekaterina Fedyaeva, 27, died from the gruesome medical blunder in which her veins were pumped full of the chemical, which is generally used to prevent the decomposition of corpses, according to the UK Sun.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">\u201cThis is pure murder,\u201d her mother, Galina Baryshnikova, said, according to the paper. \u201c[It] was simply eroding her body from inside.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">Fedyaeva was getting a routine surgery at a hospital in Ulyanovsk last month when doctors placed her on a formalin drip \u2014 which can also be used as a disinfectant, the paper reported.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">She suffered pain and convulsions for two days before falling into a coma and being rushed to a hospital in Moscow, her mom said, according to the paper.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">\u201cHer legs were moving, she had convulsions, her whole body was shaking,\u201d Baryshnikova said.\u201dI put socks on her, then a robe, then a blanket, but she was shivering to such an extent, I can\u2019t even describe it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">Fedyaeva was attached to a life-support machine but she eventually died of heart and lung failure, according to the paper.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">Baryshnikova claims doctors knew something was wrong \u2014 but they refused to help her, she said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">\u201cPeople who performed the surgery already knew that they infused something wrong,\u201d she said. \u201cThey needed to take some urgent measures \u2014 but they did nothing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">\u201cI begged, \u2018Please help her, she is my only child,\u2019 \u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">A doctor eventually copped to the horrifying flub, admitting, \u201cIt wasn\u2019t normal saline, they put formalin into her,\u201d she said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">Ekaterina was buried April 7, and a criminal investigation is now underway, the paper reported.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">The name of the hospital where the medical flub took place was not immediately clear.
