The 10 painfully awkward NASCAR race names of 2018<\/span><\/strong><\/h2>\n

Without boatloads of money from sponsors, NASCAR wouldn\u2019t exist in the way it does now. But unfortunately, sponsorships have a tendency to lead to ridiculously long or super awkward race names.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unlike classics like the Daytona 500 or ones that have held the same sponsor for years like the Coca-Cola 600, some race names are so uncomfortable to say that you can\u2019t help but stumble over them. The [FILL IN THE BLANK] 500 can be a mouthful.<\/span><\/p>\n

So based on the Cup Series, XFINITY Series and Camping World Truck Series schedules, here are the 10 most awkward race names on the schedule.<\/span><\/p>\n

(NOTE: This is nothing against the actual sponsors themselves, particularly the organizations with a good cause.)<\/span><\/p>\n

10. THE FITZGERALD GLIDER KITS 300<\/span><\/p>\n

The only good thing about this name is because a glider kit is such an automotive industry-specific term, people might actually Google it and end up learning about the company during the XFINITY Series race this month at Bristol Motor Speedway.<\/span><\/p>\n

9. THE GO BOWLING AT THE GLEN<\/span><\/p>\n

Diehard NASCAR fans most likely know what this, but for anyone else, it sounds like solely an ad for bowling rather than bowling and a Cup Series race at Watkins Glen International.<\/span><\/p>\n

8. THE TOYOTA \/ SAVE MART 350<\/span><\/p>\n

Do you say \u201cslash\u201d with this or no? Most of these names are trying too hard to be flashy, but this one is bland and forgettable.<\/span><\/p>\n

7. FOLDS OF HONOR QUIKTRIP 500<\/span><\/p>\n

This Cup Series race name is just too long with two sponsors. This made the list last season, but it was much higher up. Luckily, there are a few worse race names this season. Plus, it already happened.<\/span><\/p>\n

6. THE 1000BULBS.COM 500<\/span><\/p>\n

If you have .com in the race title, it\u2019s probably not a great name. However, this Cup Series race is at Talladega Superspeedway during the playoffs in the fall, so the race itself is guaranteed to be entertaining for fans.<\/span><\/p>\n

5. THE ACTIVE PEST CONTROL 200 BENEFITING CHILDREN\u2019S HEALTHCARE OF ATLANTA<\/span><\/p>\n

Clearly, this is one of those with a good cause attached to it, and that\u2019s wonderful. But having the words pest control and children in the same race name make it seem like the kids might be the pests.<\/span><\/p>\n

T-NO. 3 THE AMERICAN ETHANOL E15 250 PRESENTED BY ENOGEN AND THE DRIVE FOR THE CURE 300 PRESENTED BY BLUE CROSS BLUE SHIELD OF NORTH CAROLINA<\/span><\/p>\n

Normally not a fan of ties, but these two XFINITY Series race names are terribly awkward for the same reason. Anything with \u201cpresented by\u201d in the title is generally not good. There are too many numerals in the first one and just too many words in the second one, and when you throw \u201cpresented by\u201d at the end of it, these race names are just way too long. People are definitely going to stumble over them.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. THE MY BARIATRIC SOLUTIONS 300<\/span><\/p>\n

As long as this is a sponsor, it will be toward the top no matter what other NASCAR partners come in or go. This XFINITY Series race name was our No. 1 last year thanks to the \u201cthe My\u2026\u201d combination, but it\u2019s not the most uncomfortable race name to say this season. It is, however, Saturday at Texas Motor Speedway.<\/span><\/p>\n

1. THE BIG MACHINE VODKA 400 AT THE BRICKYARD POWERED BY FLORIDA GEORGIA LINE<\/span><\/p>\n

You\u2019ve got to be kidding with this one. This might be the worst name any NASCAR race has ever had in the history of the sport. Formerly \u2013 and simply \u2013 the Brickyard 400, this is the perfect example for why multiple race sponsors might be great for business but terrible if you actually want people to say the name of said sponsors.<\/span><\/p>\n

This race at the iconic Indianapolis Motor Speedway \u2013 now the last race of the Cup Series regular season in September \u2013 often has a terrible name, but this is just too much. Guarantee everyone who\u2019s not obligated to say the full name still calls it the Brickyard 400.<\/span><\/p>\n
