Smith was found with a gunshot wound to the head around 6:05 a.m. in the 13200 block of South Riverdale Avenue in the Golden Gate neighborhood, according to Chicago police.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Smith\u2019s father, James Smith of the Morgan Park neighborhood, said his son left Chicago in 2009 and moved to Burlington, Iowa to \u201cget away from all that,\u201d referring to crime and violence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Smith, 62, said he didn&#8217;t know his son was coming into town and that they would usually meet at a hotel near Water Tower Place downtown because he did not like to be in the neighborhood.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">&#8220;He called me the other day and said that he was coming and that he\u2019d let me know when he got in town but evidently, he did not,\u201d Smith said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Smith believes his son was \u201cset up\u201d by someone he trusted because he usually would not be out in that area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">\u201cI don\u2019t even know why he was out there,\u201d Smith said. \u201cI was just surprised to find out he was here.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Smith said his son was killed near the street he grew up on and that he learned about the shooting from his brother, who lives in the area.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">\u201cHe was good to a lot of people. He was good.
