John Cena to appear on SmackDown LIVE tonight after calling out The Undertaker<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

John Cena will appear on SmackDown LIVE tonight as fans wait to see whether The Undertaker will answer his WrestleMania challenge.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cena seemingly confirmed months of <\/span>rumours on Raw as he called out the iconic Deadman for a showdown at WrestleMania 34 on April 8.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nHaving failed to earn a shot at WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar in the Elimination Chamber on Sunday, Cena appeared a desperate man.<\/span><\/p>\n

And with the 16-time world champion currently without a match at the Showcase of the Immortals, he dropped the bombshell fans longed to hear.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cena seemingly confirmed months of <\/span>rumours on Raw as he called out the iconic Deadman for a showdown at WrestleMania 34 on April 8.<\/span><\/p>\n

\nHaving failed to earn a shot at WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar in the Elimination Chamber on Sunday, Cena appeared a desperate man.<\/span><\/p>\n

And with the 16-time world champion currently without a match at the Showcase of the Immortals, he dropped the bombshell fans longed to hear.<\/span><\/p>\n

Between them, Cena and Taker have headlined no less than nine WrestleManias over the course of their legendary careers in the squared circle.<\/span><\/p>\n

However, two of the biggest stars in wrestling history have never clashed at the annual extravaganza or in any high-profile one-on-one contest.<\/span><\/p>\n

Cena first mentioned how his failures at the Royal Rumble and in the chamber limited his opportunities at WWE’s biggest pay-per-view of the year.<\/span><\/p>\n

But he added: “I need to stand in this ring and just plain old do something I should have done a long time ago and that is put out a WrestleMania challenge… to The Undertaker!”<\/span><\/p>\n

Fans roared in approval but Cena quickly backtracked, saying the match was “impossible” and he was heading to SmackDown to establish his Mania plans.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said: “I don’t make the matches. And as obvious as this seems I have been told that match is not <\/span>happening, because once again, that match is impossible.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Cena, 40, who is a storyline ‘free agent’, represented the blue brand in last year’s Survivor Series main event, but hasn’t been on the show since August.<\/span><\/p>\n

He has been advertised to appear on SmackDown’s next pay-per-view Fastlane on March 11, where he is <\/span>rumoured to be facing Royal Rumble winner Shinsuke Nakamura.<\/span><\/p>\n

An encounter between ‘Big Match John’ and the Phenom at <\/span>the The Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana would undoubtedly be an all-time dream match.<\/span><\/p>\n

But the Undertaker hasn’t competed since he lost the main event of WrestleMania 33 last year to Roman Reigns and apparently ‘retired’ <\/span>afterwards.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fans think he may not be finished yet – especially after his wife, and former WWE superstar, Michelle McCool posted a video of the 52-year-old in the gym.<\/span><\/p>\n

The belief is the seven-time world champion, real name Mark Calaway, will return for the Show of Shows, where he recorded his famous 21-0 winning streak.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Undertaker\u2019s last appearance inside the squared-circle came a month ago at Raw\u2019s 25th anniversary special in New York.<\/span><\/p>\n

He provided a cryptic message to suggest he had at least one more match in him.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\u201cThe carnage began on this <\/span>scared ground of evil, 25 years ago,\u201d said Taker, speaking at the Manhattan Center.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cFor 25 years I have been digging holes. And any person who dares step foot <\/span>in the dark side has been buried.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cFor 25 years, I have taken legends I have taken legends and ripped them off their pedestals and thrown them into the cold dark earth.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cStone Cold answered to the reaper. Mick Foley answered to the reaper. Kane, my own flesh <\/span>and blood, had to answer to the reaper.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThey all tried. They all failed.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cAnd now on this sacred ground, I declare for all of those who have fallen, it is truly time that you rest in peace.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
