{"id":59718,"date":"2018-02-27T05:55:07","date_gmt":"2018-02-27T05:55:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biphoo.com\/bipnews\/?p=59718"},"modified":"2018-02-27T05:55:07","modified_gmt":"2018-02-27T05:55:07","slug":"thailand-arrests-10-russians-ran-sex-training-course-pattaya","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biphoo.com\/bipnews\/world-news\/thailand-arrests-10-russians-ran-sex-training-course-pattaya.html","title":{"rendered":"Thailand arrests 10 Russians who ran sex training course in Pattaya"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt;\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Thailand arrests 10 Russians who ran sex training course in Pattaya<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Thai police on Monday arrested a group of 10 Russians who were running a sex training class for their compatriots in the seaside town of Pattaya, and have charged them with working in Thailand without permission.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Police said those arrested included Russian national Alex Lesley, a self-proclaimed \u201csex guru\u201d who made headlines last year following reports that he planned to run in Russia\u2019s presidential election next month.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Lesley, whose real name is Alexander Kirillov, according to Thai police, is not registered as a presidential candidate with the Russian Central Election Commission, however.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">The group will be charged with working in Thailand without permission but not for conducting the course, police said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">One of them will also be charged with overstaying his visa and three for entering Thailand illegally without passports, police said, adding that the group ran the course for more than 40 Russian men and women at a hotel in Pattaya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">\u201cThey had to pay more than 20,000 baht for the course,\u201d Pattaya police chief Apichai Krobpet told Reuters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">\u201cWe charged all 10 instructors with working without permission,\u201d he added. \u201cThey came to teach sex education to their fellow countrymen \u2026 but the course itself is not illegal.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Police said representatives of Russia\u2019s embassy in Bangkok had arrived in Pattaya to assist the men.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Reuters was not immediately able to contact the men\u2019s lawyers. The Russian embassy in the Thai capital did not respond to telephone calls to seek comment. Pattaya, famed for its nightlife, including strip clubs, some run by Russians, draws many Russian tourists, with many Russian-language signboards in the town center.On his official website, Lesley, who has more than 36,000 Instagram followers, recently posted a video of people on a beach he tagged as Monkey Beach on Koh Larn, an island off Pattaya.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">Some of the men in the video wear white t-shirts bearing the phrase, \u201cSex Animator\u201d.
