{"id":58912,"date":"2018-02-15T09:03:26","date_gmt":"2018-02-15T09:03:26","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biphoo.com\/bipnews\/?p=58912"},"modified":"2018-02-15T09:03:26","modified_gmt":"2018-02-15T09:03:26","slug":"uk-blames-russia-for-cyber-attack-says-wont-tolerate-disruption","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biphoo.com\/bipnews\/technology\/uk-blames-russia-for-cyber-attack-says-wont-tolerate-disruption.html","title":{"rendered":"UK blames Russia for cyber attack, says won&#8217;t tolerate disruption"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif\">UK blames Russia for cyber attack, says won&#8217;t tolerate disruption<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">Britain blamed Russia on Thursday for a cyber-attack last year, publicly pointing the finger at Moscow for spreading a virus which disrupted companies across Europe including UK-based Reckitt Benckiser.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">The so-called NotPetya attack in June started in Ukraine where it crippled government and business computers before spreading around the world, halting operations at ports, factories and offices.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">Britain\u2019s foreign ministry said the attack originated from the Russian military.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">\u201cThe decision to publicly attribute this incident underlines the fact that the UK and its allies will not tolerate malicious cyber activity,\u201d the ministry said in a statement.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">\u201cThe attack masqueraded as a criminal enterprise but its purpose was principally to disrupt,\u201d it said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">\u201cPrimary targets were Ukrainian financial, energy and government sectors.
