And that snub might be connected to the ex-Yankee\u2019s string of past controversial comments in camp.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">In recent years, Gossage has gone off about his distaste for Jose Bautista\u2019s bat flip and the trend toward analytics in baseball, and he\u2019s bristled about being compared to Mariano Rivera; Gossage has more reverence for the multi-inning relievers of his era.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">Gossage said that something had changed in his relationship with Cashman, which used to be positive. But when Gossage recently inquired about the change, \u201cHe didn\u2019t answer,\u2019\u2019 Gossage said. \u201cHe didn\u2019t say a word.\u2019\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">Cashman did not respond to a request for comment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">Mentioning the Yankees late owner George Steinbrenner, Gossage told the Daily News that Cashman \u201cwould have been gone 10 years ago if George was still around.\u2019\u2019 Gossage added: \u201cDo you think he\u2019s a good (expletive) baseball guy, really? He doesn\u2019t believe in (expletive) coaching.\u2019\u2019<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">Gossage was called in for a clear-the-air meeting two years ago with Cashman and then-manager Joe Girardi, after the Bautista rant and complaining that analytic front office \u201cnerds\u2019\u2019 were ruining the game.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">\u201cI just kind of lost my mind there for a minute,\u2019\u2019 Gossage said afterward. \u201cYou\u2019re talking to an old-school guy.
