Now, Rippon&#8217;s got everyone&#8217;s attention for what he&#8217;s doing on the ice. Rippon put on a beautiful, artistic and athletic performance during his free skate for the team event. I want to go over to the judges and say &#8216;Can I just have a Xanax and a quick drink. I&#8217;ll be fine.&#8217; But I kept it together. I just took it one element at a time.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">Four years ago, Rippon said he and friend Mirai Nagasu chose an In-N-Out dinner atop Nagasu&#8217;s roof to console themselves for not making the team.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">On Monday, the roommates in Pyeongchang each made their own statements. Nagasu became the first American woman to land a triple axel in the Olympics.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt;color: #000000\">Before the Games began, Rippon expressed his disapproval of Vice President Mike Pence being named to head the U.S. contingent.
