North Korea WARNING: Trump MUST be TOUGH with Kim Jong-un as World War 3 threat looms<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

NORTH KOREA would not have re-opened communication channels with Seoul without US President Donald Trump’s unusual tactics, former CIA operative Will Hurd said.<\/span><\/p>\n

North Korea has been fanning World War 3 fears with its refusal to shut down its nuclear weapons development programme.<\/span><\/p>\n

But Mr Hurd said President Donald Trump helped to spur despot leader Kim Jong-un into diplomatic talks with South Korea with his “tough” strategy.<\/span><\/p>\n

The US Representative said: “Here\u2019s a thing I\u2019ve learned as an undercover officer in the CIA: be nice with nice guys, and tough with tough guys.<\/span><\/p>\n

“You may not like the tactic but the actions, and what those tactics are producing, have been successful.”<\/span><\/p>\n

North Korea unexpectedly announced it would send athletes to the Pyeongchang Winter Olympics, signalling leader Kim would be open to discuss a diplomatic resolution to the tension his missile tests have been fueling over the past year.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr Hurd suggested the Trump Administration had succeeded to rally international support in its quest to end North Korea’s nuclear ambitions.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking to Fox&Friends, he continued: “We have to look at what is actually happening. The fact that North Korea picked up the phone and called South Korea to start a dialogue, that\u2019s a big deal.<\/span><\/p>\n

“That\u2019s a good thing in order to resolve this escalation of tensions with diplomacy. The fact that the North Koreans are talking about joining the Olympics, participating in the Olympics, is a big deal.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The fact that we have China working with us on sanctions against on North Korea is good. A year ago nobody thought that was possible.”<\/span><\/p>\n

It comes after President Trump warned the North Korean dictator he had a “much bigger and more powerful” nuclear button at the ready in the event of an attack from Pyongyang.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr Trump wrote on Twitter: “North Korean Leader Kim Jong-un just stated that the \u2018nuclear button is on his desk at all times\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWill someone from his depleted and food starved regime please inform him that I too have a nuclear button, but it is a much bigger and more powerful one than his, and my button works.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
