North Korea news: China ‘must put PRESSURE on’ as Japan and Seoul warns of World War 3<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

TOKYO and Seoul have turned up the diplomatic heat on China demanding the superpower demands North Korea ENDS its missile programme.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kim Jong-Un\u2019s hermit state continues to boast of its ability to launch a nuclear missile capable of reaching the mainland United States.<\/span><\/p>\n

And many fear a Christmas missile launch is likely as tensions between Pyongyang and Washington remain at a standoff.<\/span><\/p>\n

Now tensions in the region have risen further with Japanese foreign minister Tara Kono urging North Korea\u2019s lone major ally China to act now to stop the strained relations from getting any worse – or provoking global war.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking after talks with South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha, the politician said: “China is currently implementing the United Nations Security Council resolutions (on North Korea), but China can probably do more.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We agreed on the need to put pressure firmly on North Korea.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Japan and South Korea are seeking to boost cooperation over North Korea, despite lingering tension between them over the issue of \u201ccomfort women\u201d, a Japanese euphemism for women – many of them Korean – forced to work in Japanese military brothels before and during World War Two.<\/span><\/p>\n

The United States has also pressured China and other nations to cut trade and diplomatic ties with North Korea as part of international efforts to dry up Pyongyang\u2019s illegal cash flows that could fund its weapons programs.<\/span><\/p>\n

The comments from the Japanese government come after a former senior commander of China\u2019s military urged Beijing to mobilise troops in anticipation for war with North Korea.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lieutenant General Wang Gongguang warnsx of the need to be \u201cmentally prepared for it anytime\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said: \u201cChina should be psychologically prepared for a potential Korean War, and the Northeast China regions should be mobilised for that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

While the US Navy\u2019s top officer said on Tuesday that vessels from eastern Pacific could be brought forward to reinforce naval power in Asia as Washington contends with increased threats in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n

North Korea has defended its weapons programs as necessary to counter US aggression and sees the military drills the United States holds with South Korea and Japan as preludes to invasion.<\/span><\/p>\n

President Donald Trump and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un have exchanged bellicose rhetoric in recent weeks, with Trump threatening to destroy North Korea if provoked.<\/span><\/p>\n

While US diplomats have stressed the importance of diplomacy in an attempt to quell fears of World War 3.<\/span><\/p>\n
