{"id":54744,"date":"2017-12-16T06:01:44","date_gmt":"2017-12-16T06:01:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biphoo.com\/bipnews\/?p=54744"},"modified":"2017-12-16T06:01:44","modified_gmt":"2017-12-16T06:01:44","slug":"wounded-north-korean-defector-transferred-to-south-korean-military-hospital","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biphoo.com\/bipnews\/world-news\/wounded-north-korean-defector-transferred-to-south-korean-military-hospital.html","title":{"rendered":"Wounded North Korean defector transferred to South Korean military hospital"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Wounded North Korean defector transferred to South Korean military hospital<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Wounded North Korean defector transferred to South Korean military hospital:- A North Korean soldier who suffered critical gunshot wounds during a defection dash across the border to South Korea has been transferred to a military hospital, a South Korean intelligence official said on Saturday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">The North Korean soldier, 24-year-old Oh Chong Song, was transferred to the military hospital on Friday from a trauma center at Ajou University Hospital south of Seoul, where his treatment for gunshot wounds and pre-existing conditions included two major operations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">\u201cOh has been transferred to South Korea\u2019s military hospital and South Korea\u2019s intelligence services will soon schedule the security questioning process depending on Oh\u2019s condition,\u201d the intelligence official told Reuters.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">The official, who declined to be identified, also declined to provide a specific schedule for Oh\u2019s questioning.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Oh was shot and badly wounded by his fellow North Korean soldiers while fleeing across the border into the South in November.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Three South Korean soldiers brought Oh to safety and he was immediately taken aboard a U.S. Black Hawk military helicopter and rushed into surgery.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">\u201cMedical staff at the Armed Forces Hospital will continue to provide proper care and treatment for Oh,\u201d a South Korean defense ministry official.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Surgeon John Cook-Jong Lee accompanied Oh, along with a few South Korean intelligence services agents and other medical crew, as he was airlifted by a South Korean military helicopter to the Korean Armed Forces Capital Hospital in Seongnam, south of Seoul.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">\u201cOh is still recovering from two major surgeries and other minor injuries.
