Supermodel Bella Hadid joins protest against Donald Trump\u2019s move to recognise Jerusalem<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

SUPERMODEL Bella Hadid joined a protest in London against Donald Trump\u2019s controversial move to recognise Jerusalem as Israel\u2019s capital.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Sun reports she marched with demonstrators for three minutes before being whisked away in her chauffeur-driven car.<\/span><\/p>\n

The model, who is of Palestinian and Dutch descent, attended the protest after she cut the ribbon at a TAG Heuer event on Oxford Street in central London wearing a skin tight red dress.<\/span><\/p>\n

The protests form part of a global response to Trump\u2019s move as furious protesters have joined rallies across the globe after terror group Hamas called for a \u201cday of rage\u201d in response to the US President\u2019s announcement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Angry protests have spread to Berlin, Indonesia and Malaysia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hundreds of Brits headed to the US Embassy in London to protest President Trump\u2019s decision.<\/span><\/p>\n

Protesters held placards and chanted \u201cFree Palestine\u201d, \u201cHands off Jerusalem\u201d and \u201clift the siege of Gaza\u201d outside the US Embassy in London\u2019s wealthy Mayfair neighbourhood.<\/span><\/p>\n

Protests have been seen outside US embassies all over the world, with thousands of demonstrators coming out in Berlin to show their disgust at Trump\u2019s move.<\/span><\/p>\n

Demonstrators were seen waving Palestinian, Turkish and Syrian flags in front of the Brandenburg Gate, next to the US embassy in Berlin.<\/span><\/p>\n

Muslims in Indonesia and Malaysia joined rallies outside the countries\u2019 US embassies with Malaysia\u2019s sports minister Khairy Jamaluddin threatening \u201cthe world will rise against the United States\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hundreds have also taken part in protests in Iran where state TV aired footage of marchers chanting \u201cDeath to America\u201d and \u201cDeath to Israel\u201d while holding up Palestinian flags and banners.<\/span><\/p>\n

Palestinian Islamist movement Hamas, which runs the Gaza Strip, has called for a \u201cday of rage\u201d with its leader Ismail Haniya said a new upraising should be launched.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hundreds more police officers have been deployed in Jerusalem\u2019s Old City today with further conflicts feared.<\/span><\/p>\n

Thursday saw clashes between Palestinians and Israeli troops in cities throughout the West Bank \u2013 including the holy city of Bethlehem \u2013 with at least 16 Palestinians wounded.<\/span><\/p>\n

Early reports suggested injuries were mostly from tear gas and rubber bullets, but at least one demonstrator was hurt by live fire.<\/span><\/p>\n

Trump\u2019s announcement was met by an major diplomatic backlash as Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu lavished praise on the president.<\/span><\/p>\n

EU diplomatic chief Federica Mogherini said the decision could take the region \u201cbackwards to even darker times\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

While Russian President Vladimir Putin said he was \u201cdeeply concerned\u201d and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said it would put the region in a \u201cring of fire\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

The United Nations Security Council will meet later today to discuss Trump\u2019s announcement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unrest looks set to continue with Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas threatening to refuse to meet US Vice President Mike Pence when he visits the region later this month.<\/span><\/p>\n

In Lebanon, Hassan Nasrallah, the head of Hezbollah, called for a mass demonstration on Monday while protests are also planned in Turkey and Malaysia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Demonstrations have even been seen in the US with several hundred protesters taking to the street in Chicago chanting \u201cfree Palestine\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said the US had \u201cwithdrawn from its role in the peace process\u201d and insisted Jerusalem was the \u201ceternal capital of the State of Palestine\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Theresa May insisted Jerusalem\u2019s status should be agreed by both Israel and Palestine and said she wants the two countries to have the city as a \u201cshared capital\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

She said she disagreed with Donald Trump\u2019s \u201cunhelpful\u201d decision, after earlier telling the House of Commons: \u201cWe continue to support a two-state solution. We recognise the importance of Jerusalem.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

France\u2019s Emmanuel Macron called on the White House to step back from the announcement \u2014 while Pope Francis defended the \u201cstatus quo\u201d of the city as he prayed that \u201cwisdom and prudence prevail\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n
