Navy ready to ‘rush HMS Queen Elizabeth II into battle against North Korea in World War 3’<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

BRITAIN\u2019S state-of-the-art HMS Queen Elizabeth could be rushed into service early to fight dictator Kim Jong-un, an Admiral has revealed.<\/span><\/p>\n

The \u00a33.1billion carrier is not expected to come into full service for several years, but it could be rushed into service early if the UK declares war on North Korea.<\/span><\/p>\n

Admiral Lord West said: \u201cWe need stability in the region, and the best way to get stability is strong naval forces.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The likely hood of World War 3 breaking out in the region forcing the HMS Queen Elizabeth II into early service seems closer than ever as tensions continue to rise in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n

Recent military exercises carried out between the US and South Korea prompted a furious response from the dictator to the north.<\/span><\/p>\n

Kim Jong-un said they would lead to nuclear war ahead of the exercises which are seen as a symbol of America\u2019s support for Seoul.<\/span><\/p>\n

While a military expert has claimed the Chinese military is preparing to join forces with North Korea after military drill on their border.<\/span><\/p>\n

The former First Sea Lord clarified Britain would not definitely be drawn into a clash between the US and North Korea.<\/span><\/p>\n

But he said if the UK felt there was a conflict \u201cwe had to get involved in\u201d the carrier could be rushed into service.<\/span><\/p>\n

The 65,000-tonne hulk is years away from service with major tests still to be run and its fleet of aircraft not ready.<\/span><\/p>\n

Admiral West told the Daily Star: \u201cYou can always compress timescales to work things up, you can get aircraft quicker, you can get people trained quicker and you can push things quicker.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIn a really, really difficult situation and with a major threat to the UK, it would still take 18 months \u2013 and that would be really, really pushing it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

He stated that the HMS Queen Elizabeth and its sister ship HMS Prince of Wales will be \u201cvery good at stopping war\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

HMS Queen Elizabeth is currently estimated to be in full operation by around 2020 \u2013 with a full complement of state-of-the-art fighter planes, the F-35 Lightning II.<\/span><\/p>\n

US Ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, has said that it remains an \u201copen question\u201d whether to send athletes to the event in South Korea which takes place between Feb 9 and 25.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are concerns that safety of US participants in the games could be at risk if they attend because of the threats of war from Kim Jong-un\u2019s communist state.<\/span><\/p>\n

The ambassador said that President Donald Trump and his administration were still working on trying to \u201cfind out the best way\u201d to make sure that athletes safety was protected during the international event.<\/span><\/p>\n

She said: \u201cThis is a perfect opportunity for all of them to go and do something they have worked so hard for.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWhat we will do is, we will make sure that we’re taking every precaution possible to make sure that they’re safe and to know everything that’s going on around them.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
