{"id":53960,"date":"2017-12-06T08:06:01","date_gmt":"2017-12-06T08:06:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biphoo.com\/bipnews\/?p=53960"},"modified":"2017-12-06T08:06:01","modified_gmt":"2017-12-06T08:06:01","slug":"expert-warns-yemen-war-will-affect-the-entire-middle-east-as-war-intensifies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biphoo.com\/bipnews\/world-news\/expert-warns-yemen-war-will-affect-the-entire-middle-east-as-war-intensifies.html","title":{"rendered":"Expert warns Yemen war will affect the ENTIRE Middle East as war INTENSIFIES"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Expert warns Yemen war will affect the ENTIRE Middle East as war INTENSIFIES<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">World War 3 fears have intensified over an escalating major conflict which could affect the whole of the Middle East.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Dr Simon Mabon, a professor of Middle Eastern politics at Lancaster University, said recent escalation in the Yemeni conflict between a Saudi Arabia-led coalition and Houthi rebels could impact the entire Middle East.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">The past week has seen a massive ramp up in violence after Houthi rebels claimed to have fired a missile at Abu Dhabi, a popular tourist hotspot.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Saudi Arabia retaliated by stepping up air strikes on Yemen\u2019s capital Sanaa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Speaking to ABC News Australia, Dr Mabon said: \u201cWell I think it throws everything up in the air to be honest.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">He added that the death of the country\u2019s former President Ali Abdullah Saleh, which Houthi rebels took credit for, would create even more instability in the region.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">He said: \u201cI think that Saleh has played such a pivotal role in the nature of Yemeni politics and also I guess the nature of Arabian politics, drawing in the Saudis, the Iranians, the Emiratis.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">\u201cHis death is just going to cause a great deal of uncertainty to those actually caught up in the Yemeni conflict, those actors that are fighting but also the people who are living in Yemen in really difficult conditions.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">But the conflict, which is seen as a proxy war between Iran and Saudi Arabia, could also affect the entire region, the professor warned.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">He said: \u201cBut also those at a broader regional level, so there\u2019s a great deal of uncertainty that\u2019s really blowing across the Middle East right now.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Saudi Arabia and its allies view the Houthi rebels as an Iranian proxy on its doorstep.
