Seemingly frustrated, Joseph filmed the guards searching his luggage.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">\u201cWe had been traveling for about 20 hours or so,\u201d son Jonathan told Fox 4. \u201cOf course, my dad would be agitated like anyone else would be.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Jonathan said he wasn\u2019t allowed to stay with his father during the screening and had to leave the security area. He believed his father would be released and they could go home.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">\u201cWe both had, I guess, the notion that he was going to be able to make at least the next flight, not actually be arrested,\u201d Jonathan said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Jonathan landed back home in the U.S., but hadn\u2019t heard from his father. It wasn\u2019t until days later, after Jonathan and his sister, Elaine Strathern, spent days contacting the U.S. Embassy in Abu Dhabi, that he learned his father had been transported to a prison.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">The siblings told Fox 4 the U.S. Embassy doesn\u2019t know what Joseph has been charged with.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">\u201cThey don\u2019t know anything.
