Putin responds to US threat with new anti-ballistic missile tests:- World War 3 rhetoric has been amplified as Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump step up their activities, with fears North Korea will try to target the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n

And Kim Jong-un’s top targets for a nuclear strike are New York, the White House, Guam and Tokyo, according to the Europen Commission of Foreign Relations.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Russian Air Force successfully tested an upgraded version of its missile defence system, firing off a modernised anti-ballistic missile from a testing facility in Kazakhstan.<\/span><\/p>\n

It comes after the US installed a new Aegis Ashore missile defence system in Romania, sparking fresh tensions with Russia.<\/span><\/p>\n

Poland is to install its component of the missile shield next year.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the footage, the cylindrical projectile is transported onto a heavy truck and then uploaded into a silo.<\/span><\/p>\n

The missile was test-fired on Thursday from the Sary Shagan testing range located in the steppe of Kazakhstan, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking to Russia Today, Colonel Andrey Prikhodko of the Russian Air Force, said the anti-ballistic missile “followed the flight plan and successfully hit a mock target.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

The officer did not elaborate on the test, but said all the test’s objectives \u201chave been completed in full.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Russia is among the few military powers to have developed a fully-operational ballistic missile defence system, known as the A-135. The 53T6 anti-ballistic missile, the main component of the A-135, is said to protect airspace around Moscow.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the Defence Ministry the system, comprising interceptor missiles and sophisticated early warning radars, is also designed for monitoring outer space, with interceptor missiles and sophisticated early warning radars.<\/span><\/p>\n

While the US insists that its Aegis Ashore systems are installed to help protect European allies from Iran or North Korea\u2019s missile threats, Moscow believes the systems can be easily adapted to deploy offensive weapons.<\/span><\/p>\n

The European Commission of Foreign Relations has identified 15 cities and landmarks across the world that it believes North Korea has in its sights.<\/span><\/p>\n

All of them are either in the US, Japan, South Korea or US territories in the Pacific Ocean.<\/span><\/p>\n

The think tank drew up the hit-list after studying announcements in Pyongyang’s state media threatening death and destruction on the nation’s numerous enemies.<\/span><\/p>\n

Disturbingly, the commission noted a “lack of clear distinction” between strategic military targets and large, populous areas packed with innocent civilians.<\/span><\/p>\n
