The only invitation we are thinking about is to the 2018 NCAA Tournament.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">After the Gamecocks won the NCAA title in April, Staley said the team would go to the White House if invited because \u201cit\u2019s what it stands for. It\u2019s what national champions do.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">In September, Staley told The Associated Press she still had not received an invitation from the White House \u201cand that in itself speaks volumes.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Staley said if the team received an invite they may not attend after \u201csome things transpired over the last few months,\u201d ESPN reported.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">In September, Trump rescinded Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry\u2019s invitation to the White House after his team won the NBA championship. Trump took away the invite after Curry suggested his team did not wish to meet with Trump.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">The Warriors announced that they would not go to the White House to meet with Trump following the rescinded invitation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">North Carolina&#8217;s men&#8217;s basketball team said earlier this year it could not agree on a date for a visit.
