US military command ‘ERROR’ sent North Korea ‘false nuclear arsenal’ info<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

An article that falsely boasted of \u201csecret\u201d US silos and B-1 bombers that can drop nuclear warheads was quickly debunked by experts online.<\/span><\/p>\n

It is feared this move could lead to a catastrophic escalation of tensions with a military force seeming to confirm Pyongyang\u2019s suspicions that B-1s can carry nukes, Asian security expert Van Jackson has warned.<\/span><\/p>\n

The article that US Strategic Command shared said: \u201cThe USS Kentucky is part of what is called the \u2018nuclear triad\u2019.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe triad are the three components of a nuclear defence system: land-based missiles fired from secret silos, B-1 bombers that can drop them from the air, and submarine launched ballistic missiles.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

This could provoke a retaliation from North Korea next time the US flies a B-1 bomber over the Korean peninsula, it is feared.<\/span><\/p>\n

Nuclear expert Vipin Narang said: \u201cWhat the hell guys. Secret silos and B-1s? Don\u2019t spread false information through the official handle.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

This fresh threat to escalate tensions comes after President Trump sparked outrage by calling Kim Jong-un \u201cshort and fat\u201d on Twitter.<\/span><\/p>\n

The shocking outburst prompted a strong response from North Korea\u2019s propaganda mouthpiece Rodong Sinmun.<\/span><\/p>\n

The article said: \u201cTrump betrayed his true colours as an old lunatic, mean trickster and human reject during his one night and two days stay in South Korea.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cHe should know that he is just a hideous criminal sentenced to death by the Korean people. He will be forced to pay dearly for his blasphemy any moment.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Responding to criticism the US Strategic Command\u200f said: “The rest of the piece provided good insight into life aboard an SSBN.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We have reached out to the reporter to properly characterise the nuclear triad, and appreciate reporter Oriana Pawlyk’s continued focus on the B-1B as a conventional-only weapons platform.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The fresh worries came after it was revealed the North Korea could have a nuclear weapon striking London in just one year, a general has warned.<\/span><\/p>\n

North Korea could have the capability to strike London with a rocket \u201cwithin the next 12 to 18 months\u201d, General Sir Richard Barrons has warned.<\/span><\/p>\n

General Barrons said Britain\u2019s defence was \u201cclose to breaking\u201d and would \u201cfall over\u201d unless more money was put in, amid fears of World War 3.<\/span><\/p>\n

Speaking to the Commons Defence Select Committee, he said Islamic State could also find nuclear weapons and fire them at the UK.<\/span><\/p>\n

And he warned Russia was also a threat as times had moved on from the relative safety of 20 years ago.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said: \u201cWe now live in an age where people who are not on our side have a capability that they could, I’m not saying they will, but could, inflict on the UK homeland at short notice which we can’t deal with.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe aren\u2019t living in the comfortable waters of the 1990s and we have not yet addressed that.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDefence is close to breaking and unless you put more money in it, it will fall over.<\/span><\/p>\n

“There are clearly existential threats to our country and they come in many forms.<\/span><\/p>\n

“They come in the form of Daesh (Islamic State), who if they could, would find weapons of mass destruction and apply them to the UK.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We are locked in a daily confrontation with Russia, the Prime Minister said so herself yesterday.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We are looking at North Korea which within the next 12 to 18 months will make a nuclear missile to an intercontinental range ballistic missile that could reach London and we can’t deal with that.”<\/span><\/p>\n

General Barrons\u2019 long career in the Army included tours of Northern Ireland, Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan.<\/span><\/p>\n
