{"id":50955,"date":"2017-11-07T05:35:33","date_gmt":"2017-11-07T05:35:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biphoo.com\/bipnews\/?p=50955"},"modified":"2017-11-07T05:35:33","modified_gmt":"2017-11-07T05:35:33","slug":"woman-in-viral-video-charged-with-hitting-police-officer-at-college-football-game","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biphoo.com\/bipnews\/news\/woman-in-viral-video-charged-with-hitting-police-officer-at-college-football-game.html","title":{"rendered":"Woman in viral video charged with hitting police officer at college football game"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Woman in viral video charged with hitting police officer at college football game<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">The woman who has gained infamy through a viral video of her altercation with a Miami-Dade police officer at a college football game has been arrested and charged.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Bridget Freitas, a 30-year-old nurse, has been charged with felony battery on a police officer and disorderly conduct.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">The incident occurred during Miami\u2019s win Saturday over Virginia Tech at Hard Rock Stadium.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">The video shared on social media shows four Miami-Dade officers removing Freitas, who was in a stairway between rows, hanging onto a another person\u2019s shirt with her right hand.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">As she is being carried away, Freitas flails before she slaps an officer on the side of his face.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">The officer then hits her with a right hook flush to her face, causing her to crumble in the officers\u2019 arms as she is carried out of view of the camera.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">The officer\u2019s name hasn\u2019t been released, according to The Associated Press. Miami-Dade Police Detective Alvaro Zabaleta said in an email Sunday that the department is examining the video to make sure proper procedures were followed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">According to the arrest report, Freitas had been arguing with other fans and was \u201cusing profanity in a loud, boisterous manner\u201d when officers arrived. They say they tried to calm her down and asked her to move to the concourse, but she refused and sat on the steps.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Eric Argueta, who took video of the incident, told ABC 10 that Freitas was \u201cswinging at another lady\u201d before police carried her out.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">\u201cShe looked like she had no control of herself and she was refusing to leave the stadium.
