NATO calls for countries to unite against North Korea GLOBAL THREAT<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

NATO calls for countries to unite against North Korea GLOBAL THREAT:- Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg launched the urgent calls during a meeting in Seoul with South Korean Foreign Minister Kang Kyung-wha.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said: “It’s a global threat. It’s a big challenge for the Republic of Korea being so close.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cBut it’s also a challenge for the rest of the world because North Korea is now developing more longer-range missiles able to reach both North America and Europe.<\/span><\/p>\n

“This is another example that security is inter-connected and global threats require global responses.<\/span><\/p>\n

“Therefore we should look into how we can work together on global challenges.<\/span><\/p>\n

“The Republic of Korea is one of NATO’s longest-standing partners outside Europe and with tension and challenges related to North Korea and many other issues, it’s important we are able to strengthen and develop our partnerships.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Mrs Kang showed her appreciation for NATO support and insisted that further help is needed as the rogue nation continues to threaten further provocations.<\/span><\/p>\n

She stated: “This year has been particularly challenging in terms of numerous provocations.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe are certainly very grateful for NATO’s strong support in the face of these provocations.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We need that support from the international community in coming to terms with this growing global security threat.”<\/span><\/p>\n

The NATO official is currently on a visit to South Korea to discuss issues associated with the hermit kingdom and heightened global tensions.<\/span><\/p>\n

The South\u2019s talks with NATO come as the country recently pleaded with despot leader Kim Jong-un to not \u201cdevelop or possess nukes\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

During a speech at the National Assembly, President Moon Jae-in emphasised the country\u2019s commitment to peace through denuclearisation.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said: “In accordance with the declaration of denuclearisation jointly announced by the South and the North, a nuclear-armed North Korea can neither be tolerated nor accepted.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe too will not develop or possess nukes.<\/span><\/p>\n

“What we want to realise is peace on the Korean Peninsula. Therefore, there can never be any armed conflict on the Korean Peninsula under any circumstances.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThere cannot be any military action on the Korean Peninsula without a prior consent of the Republic of Korea.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

However, the President added that the country is fully prepared to retaliate in the event of provocation by its rogue neighbour.<\/span><\/p>\n

He went on: “To this end, we must secure overwhelming power. We will also closely work with the international community, based on the strong Korea-US alliance.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We must decide the fate of our own nation.<\/span><\/p>\n

“We will not repeat the unfortunate history of having our fate decided regardless of our wishes, such as the Japanese colonial rule of Korea and the division of the two Koreas.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Moon Jae-in has been under increasing pressure from opposition parties to redeploy US tactical nuclear weapons in the country as world tensions soar due to threats of nuclear annihilation from the isolationist kingdom<\/span><\/p>\n
