The diagnosis was announced Sept. 19.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">Boyle said he was blown away by the support he and his family received from teammates, the organization and the hockey community. \u201cIt was overwhelming,\u201d he said. \u201cIt was very touching. Obviously, it\u2019s a situation you don\u2019t want to be in, but we\u2019ve got a good handle on it.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">Boyle returned to practice Oct. 23, and targeted the game in Vancouver as his goal to get back in the lineup about a week ago.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">\u201cJust coming on the road was a treat,\u201d Boyle said. \u201cI was bummed, my 2-year-old went as Batman last night. I missed all of that. He had a blast. Aside from that, I\u2019m pretty excited.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">The six-foot-six, 245-pound Boyle has to take medication in the morning and before he goes to bed, but that\u2019s all the treatment he needs at the moment. He signed a two-year, $5 million contract with New Jersey in July.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">Boyle has 93 goals and 76 assists in 624 games in parts of 10 NHL seasons with the Los Angeles Kings, New York Rangers, Tampa Bay Lightning and Toronto Maple Leafs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">\u201cI love this game. It\u2019s given me so much,\u201d Boyle said. \u201cI met my wife in New York playing for the Rangers. Some of my closest friends, I\u2019ve met through hockey.
