But they remain hopeful, strong in spirit even as his body weakens,&#8221; Attorney Mawuli Davis told WBIR.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Emory Hospital in Atlanta reportedly worked on behalf of Dickerson, who was in jail, to request he be escorted to the hospital for blood work and pre-operative testing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Anthony&#8217;s mother, Carmellia Burgess, said that days after testing, she received a letter from the hospital saying her son\u2019s surgery would be delayed until Dickerson complied with his parole officer after three months.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">\u201cThey\u2019re making this about his dad,\u201d Burgess said. \u201cIt\u2019s not about dad.
