{"id":49495,"date":"2017-10-28T09:15:45","date_gmt":"2017-10-28T09:15:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biphoo.com\/bipnews\/?p=49495"},"modified":"2017-10-28T09:15:45","modified_gmt":"2017-10-28T09:15:45","slug":"china-loses-patience-with-usa-after-trump-punishes-kim-jong-uns-henchmen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biphoo.com\/bipnews\/world-news\/china-loses-patience-with-usa-after-trump-punishes-kim-jong-uns-henchmen.html","title":{"rendered":"China LOSES patience with USA after Trump punishes Kim Jong-un&#8217;s henchmen"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">China LOSES patience with USA after Trump punishes Kim Jong-un&#8217;s henchmen<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">China LOSES patience with USA after Trump punishes Kim Jong-un&#8217;s henchmen:- The despot leader\u2019s North Korea henchmen stand accused of \u201cflagrant\u201d human rights abuses, including killings, torture, forced labor and the hunting down of asylum seekers abroad.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">But China hit out at the United States for applying its domestic law on foreign military chiefs, one of which is based in the Chinese city of Shenyang.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">China is beginning to lose patience with the situation between the United States and North Korea as both sides refuse to reach an accord.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said in a statement: &#8220;Today&#8217;s sanctions target the North Korean military and regime officials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">&#8220;We also are targeting North Korean financial facilitators who attempt to keep the regime afloat with foreign currency earned through forced labor operations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">&#8220;We are especially concerned with the North Korean military, which operates as secret police, punishing all forms of dissent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">&#8220;Further, the military operates outside of North Korea to hunt down asylum seekers, and brutally detains and forcibly returnsNorth Korean citizens.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Despite China being tough on USA, signs are beginning to emerge that Beijing may be getting frustrated with its allies in Pyongang.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">In a message from North Korea leader to Chinese President Xi Jingping sent earlier this week wishing congratulations to China, Kim Jong was much less cordial.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Kim Tae-hyo, political science professor at Seoul-based Sungkyunkwan University said the dictator wished Xi &#8220;great success,&#8221; according to state media, as Xi received a second five-year term at the 19th Party Congress. But the overall tone was less cordial than previous correspondence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">When Xi was first appointed five years ago, Pyongyang sent a six-sentence-long congratulatory message that included phrases such as &#8220;strength of the mutual leadership, friendship and brotherhood,&#8221; Sungkyunkwan University&#8217;s Kim told CNBC.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">&#8220;This time, the note was only four sentences and made no mention of brotherhood or friendship&#8221;, he continued.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Among those sanctioned by the USA were the director and the deputy director of the Military Security Command, the first vice minister of the Ministry of People&#8217;s Security and the labor minister.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">North Korea&#8217;s consul general in Shenyang, China, and a diplomat at its embassy in Vietnam were also sanctioned.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">The Treasury statement accused Ku Sung Sop, the consul general in Shenyang, and Kim Min Chol, the diplomat in Vietnam, of participating in the forced repatriation of North Korean asylum seekers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Scott Busby, the US deputy assistant secretary of state for democracy, human rights and labor, told a news briefing that Ku&#8217;s case had been raised with China.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">He said it was up to China how to react, but the range of possibilities included expelling him from the country.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Speaking in Beijing, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Geng Shuang said China does not approve of countries using their own domestic law to enact unilateral sanctions outside of the United Nations framework.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">He said: &#8220;We will maintain normal exchanges and cooperation with North Korea on the basis of complying with UN resolutions.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">He did not elaborate further.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Busby said North Korean government violations included extrajudicial killings, torture, rape and forced abortions and the aim of the sanctions was to send a message, especially to prison camp managers and mid-level officials, that individuals would be held accountable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">The US administration has sought to restrict the income North Korea receives from its export of labour as part of efforts to choke off funds helping to finance the country&#8217;s nuclear and missile programs, which Pyongyang says are aimed at developing weapons capable of hitting the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">North Korea routinely denies widespread allegations of rights abuses.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">The Treasury statement said the Ch&#8217;olhyo&#8217;n Overseas Construction Company, which was sanctioned along with the Military Security Command and the External Construction Bureau, had operated in Algeria and was reported to earn foreign currency for North Korea.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">The Treasury statement said: &#8220;Employees of Ch&#8217;olhyo&#8217;n are kept in slave-like conditions, including having salaries and passports withheld by (North Korean) security officials assigned as site supervisors, meagre food rations, poor living conditions, and severe restrictions on their freedom of movement.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">It said the External Construction Bureau had operated in Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, and the United Arab Emirates.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">US Defence Secretary Jim Mattis came within a hair&#8217;s breadth of North Korea when he visited the inter-Korean Demilitarised Zone (DMZ) in South Korea today.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">He spied into the hermit state, under the watchful eye of Kim Jong-un&#8217;s soldiers, as his South Korean counterpart said they were helpless against North Korea&#8217;s military might.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Song Young-moo said: &#8220;Defending against this many LRAs (long-range artillery) is infeasible in my opinion.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">He called for the US to come up with strategies to &#8220;offensively neutralise&#8221; North Korea&#8217;s threat.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">Mr Mattis said Kim Jong-un nuclear weapons \u201cthreaten others with catastrophe\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt;font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000\">The Trump administration&#8217;s priority was to stop Kim Jong-un&#8217;s nuclear development.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span
