The two companies have been experimenting with payments over Messenger for quite some time, and the official rollout merely comes as a culmination of that partnership. This integration also brings PayPal\u2019s first customer service bot to the messaging platform, which enables the company to field queries and requests from users.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000;font-size: 14pt\">\u201cWe\u2019re excited today to announce an expansion of our relationship with Facebook with the addition of PayPal as a funding source for peer-to-peer (P2P) payments, right in Messenger,\u201d PayPal said in a blog post. The feature is rolling out beginning Oct. 20.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000;font-size: 14pt\">This is huge. PayPal says 2.5 million accounts have already linked their account with Messenger, and it\u2019s easy to imagine for that number to grow with the rollout.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000;font-size: 14pt\">Sending money to friends is easy. In a thread with a person or a group, simply tap the blue \u201c+\u201d button, and select the green \u201cPayments\u201d button to either send or request money. From there, users can choose PayPal as the source when making a payment to a friend.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;color: #000000;font-size: 14pt\">TechCrunch speculates because of the system\u2019s ease of use, Facebook\u2019s buy-and-sell and marketplace community will likely turn it into its de facto payment method, which is good news for both PayPal and Facebook, since that\u2019ll definitely increase the number of people who are going to take advantage of the feature.
