World War 3: North Korea stages paraglider drill to carry out SURPRISE ATTACK on US troops<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

NORTH KOREAN special forces have conducted paraglider drills in a bid to carry out surprise attacks on US forces in Seoul, it emerged today.<\/span><\/p>\n

The North Korean Army, Navy and Air Force conducted the paraglide drills for several days in mid-September, South Korean defence officials revealed today.<\/span><\/p>\n

Paragliding soldiers took part in the drills at a training ground which is a replica of the South Korea-US Combined Forces Command, officials said.<\/span><\/p>\n

By using a paraglider, which is easy to operate and only weighs about three kilograms, North Korean special forces could carry the folded equipment on their backs and paraglide from a border summit to seize a target in a surprise attack.<\/span><\/p>\n

The drills mark the first time Kim Jong-un\u2019s special forces have used paragliders in drills aimed at the allies\u2019 command post.<\/span><\/p>\n

US and South Korean officials already knew the hermit kingdom had built a model of the South Korea presidential office, Cheong Wa Dae, to conduct drills.<\/span><\/p>\n

A South Korean defence source said they were concerned the South\u2019s Army radar would hardly detect a night time airborne attack by paragliding solders.<\/span><\/p>\n

He told the South\u2019s Yonhap Agency: \u201cA paraglider flies at a low altitude without making a sound. It could be useful for making a surprise attack, like a drone.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I believe that North Korean special forces are adopting amazing methods of infiltration with limited resources.”<\/span><\/p>\n

Another defence source said the drills had prompted the US and South Korean forces to conduct a joint short-range air defence drill at the end of last month.<\/span><\/p>\n

Soldiers from the US 6th Battalion, 52nd Air Defense Artillery Regiment and the South\u2019s air defence unit, held the exercise in Pocheon, north of Seoul.<\/span><\/p>\n

The drill, aimed at countering inbound low-altitude aerial threats, was the first time the allies held a combined short-range air defence training drill in South Korea.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tensions between the US and North Korea have heightened over the past few months as Kim has fired missiles over US ally Japan and US President Donald Trump has reacted in an increasingly aggressive manner, saying he will bring \u201cfire and fury\u201d on the communist state.<\/span><\/p>\n

Russia last night stepped in, with its foreign minister, Sergey Lavrov, warning his US counterpart, Rex Tillerson, the escalation of tension on the Korean peninsula is \u201cunacceptable\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

Russia’s foreign ministry, said: “Lavrov underlined the inadmissibility of any escalation of tension on the Korean peninsula, to which the USA’s military preparations lead, and called for contradictions to be resolved by diplomatic means only.”<\/span><\/p>\n

During a phone call with Secretary of State Mr Tillerson, Vladimir Putin’s right hand man discussed Syria, Korea and Ukraine, the Russian foreign ministry revealed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr Lavrov also told Mr Tillerson Moscow is demanding the US returns Russian diplomatic property seized in 2016 over suspected Russian interference in the general election.<\/span><\/p>\n

Former US president Barack Obama expelled 35 Russian diplomats and ordered some of its US diplomatic properties to be vacated.<\/span><\/p>\n

Today, Russian lawmaker Anton Morozov, who recently returned from Pyongyang, said North Korea is aiming to increase the range of its ballistic missiles from 3,000km to 9,000km – which could reach the US Pacific island of Guam.<\/span><\/p>\n

He said: \u201cThere was no talk about the deadline.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Mr Morozov, who embarked on a three day visit to the despot kingdom with two other Russian lawmakers, said on Friday Kim was preparing to launch another long-range missile \u201cin the nearest future\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n

He claimed to have seen calculations showing the missile could hit the US west coast.<\/span><\/p>\n
