{"id":45168,"date":"2017-09-28T09:55:03","date_gmt":"2017-09-28T09:55:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.biphoo.com\/bipnews\/?p=45168"},"modified":"2017-09-28T09:55:03","modified_gmt":"2017-09-28T09:55:03","slug":"ataris-new-console-much-just-video-games","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.biphoo.com\/bipnews\/technology\/ataris-new-console-much-just-video-games.html","title":{"rendered":"Atari&#8217;s new console does much more than just video games"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2><span style=\"font-size: 18pt\"><strong><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif\">Atari&#8217;s new console does much more than just video games<\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">Atari&#8217;s new console does much more than just video games:-Atari has released more details about its upcoming video game console \u2014 and it\u2019s a long way from the pioneering 2600 model that made Atari famous in the 1970s.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">The forthcoming Ataribox, whose retro body will be encased in \u201creal wood,\u201d will run on a Linux-based operating system and promises \u201ca full PC experience for the TV\u201d that can handle streaming, apps, social media, web browsing and music, Atari said Tuesday.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">\u201cMost connected TV devices have closed systems and content stores,\u201d Ataribox general manager Feargal Mac said in a statement. \u201cAtaribox is an open system, and while our user interface will be easy to use, people will also be free to access and customize the underlying OS.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">Ataribox owners will receive a console that is pre-loaded with all-time classic video games, as well as the capabilities to play the newest offerings from modern video game creators.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">The Ataribox will cost between $250 and $300, which means it will be in the same price bracket as the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;font-size: 14pt\">The console will forego the traditional development process, and instead be made available first on the crowdfunding platform Indiegogo.
