Among Republicans, 82 percent would back military action compared with 37 percent among Democrats. Among political independents, 56 backed such action.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">\u201cHalf still think the situation can be resolved with sanctions and diplomacy,\u201d and the majority of Americans doubt any U.S. military attack is imminent in the next six months, Gallup said.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">The poll findings came as North Korea fired another missile that flew over Japan earlier Friday, according to South Korean and Japanese officials.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">\u201cA majority of Americans appear ready to support military action against that country, at least as a last resort,\u201d Gallup wrote in its report. But, it added \u201cAmericans still think North Korea is bluffing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14pt; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; color: #000000;\">The findings were a shift from 2003, when it last asked about U.S. support for military action against Pyongyang and 47 percent said they backed it, according to Gallup.
